Eddie Deezen, star of 'Grease, found incompetent to stand trial
Because of a mental disorder, actor Eddie Deezen has been ruled incompetent to stand trial.
According to Allegany County Circuit Court records reviewed Monday by The Times, the actor, who played Eugene Felsnic in the "Grease" musical films and Eddie in Punky Brewster, was also transferred to the Maryland Department of Health for treatment.
A commitment order filed Aug. 4 indicates that the Cumberland, Md., resident, 65, poses a danger to himself and others, other source reports. No information was provided about the type of disorder.
Jessica Lynne Colwell, Deezen's defense attorney, did not immediately respond to The Times' requests for comment on Monday. He was arrested in April and accused of trespassing in Allegany County, Maryland, at a privately owned nursing home. He appeared in cartoons such as "Dexter's Laboratory" and "Kim Possible.
Items and notes were left at the residence by Deezen, according to the police. His neighbors' vehicles had also been broken into in the past.NBC News reported that the "WarGames" actor was arrested after throwing plates, bowls, and food at sheriff's deputies responding to a disturbance at a LaVale, MD, restaurant in September.
