Teigen spoke openly about her miscarriage experience, sharing the immense shock and pain she and her husband felt. According to the American Pregnancy Association, 10% to 25% of pregnancies end in miscarriage, so her decision to share the news was seen as a blow against a long-standing culture of silence.

They have previously revealed that their first 2 children were conceived through in vitro fertilization, and Teigen said Wednesday that the new baby is coming "1 billion shots later."The announcement of Teigan's pregnancy was hesitant at first."Whenever I go for an appointment, I think, 'ok, if it's healthy today, I'll announce, but then I hear the heartbeat and decide I'm just too nervous," she wrote."Thank goodness," she wrote, "I've kept this from you for so long!"
