Kate McKinnon on leaving Saturday Night Live, watching season 48
NBC's Saturday Night Live Season 47 ended with four cast members saying farewell: Pete Davidson, Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, and Kyle Mooney. As we await news on SNL's Season 48 cast and return date, McKinnon shared some thoughts on her departure and if she will watch the new season when it comes around in an interview with Live With Kelly and Ryan. In an interview with hosts Ryan Seacrest and Kelly Ripa earlier today, McKinnon said, "I thought about it for a very long time, and it was very, very hard."My dream has always been to be on Saturday Night Live. I achieved my goal, I was happy, and I had the time of my life. What about watching the Season 48 cast McKinnon might not be able to watch 'SNL' right now as she misses everyone too much.
"It's too emo. I may watch 'The Bachelorette' instead."As Lorne Michaels toured behind the scenes of Saturday Night Live's show night with CBS Mornings host Gayle King ahead of his Kennedy Center honor, he revealed he had thought about retiring and it was "a really good time to do it." But first and foremost, he wants to see SNL reach that milestone. I intend to do this show through its 50th anniversary in three years, and I think that'd be a great time to leave," Michaels said. He continued, "I don't want the show to go bad. It's been my life's work, so I'm going to do whatever I can to make sure it continues to run well." While Michaels refused to reveal who would take over the role next, he did admit that they had "a sense of where we're going."
