UnLtd Big Game raises $65k for children at risk

Over fifty gamers from the media, marketing, technology, and creative industries came together for the third annual Big Game to play for a good cause.

Teams demonstrated their Rocket League talents in front of over 300 online fans during the qualification rounds, which were broadcast live on Twitch.

The event came to a close with a live final at Publicis in Sydney, where seven teams competed in Rocket League games in front of a live audience.

The grand final was a close match between last year's champions 'Team O' (OMD) and newcomers Canvanauts (Canva), with Canvanauts winning 2-1. Canva's Josh Leyshon (aka'Bodie') was named player of the day for his outstanding performance throughout the event.

'The Canva team and I had a blast playing in our first Big Game event,' Leyshon says. During the competition, there were numerous fist bumps. Going into the final series, it was nerve-wracking, but we're thrilled to have won.

Huge thanks to each and every player — we had a lot of team bonding, which made our last push difficult. Thank you to UnLtd for arranging such a fantastic event in support of such a fantastic cause.'

Twitch and Blis generously sponsored the tournament, which was also supported by Lets. Profits will go to UnLtd's charities that aid children and young people who are at danger.

'What a terrific event and an even better result!' says Ricky Chanana, Twitch's head of sales AUNZ. We appreciated being able to bring our industry together on Twitch to have fun, network, communicate, and most importantly, raise money for young kids in need.'

In 2022, the following teams competed in the Big Game: ACM, ARN, Blis Balls & Blis Bandicoots (Blis), Canvanauts (Canva), Dentsu, Grim Reapers (REA), GroupM, IPGenius (IPG Mediabrands), Performics No Mercy Bell (Publicis), PXYZ (Playground XYZ), Team O (OMD), 2 Tarps 2 Furious (Group M) (Captify).

'It was amazing seeing so many people from across our business join together electronically and in person to game for good,' says Chris Freel, CEO of UnLtd.

Esports is such an interesting field, and we've enjoyed not only connecting with some of our industry's most passionate gamers, but also introducing new individuals to the excitement of esports. The end outcome is outstanding and will have a significant impact on at-risk youngsters.'

Thank You!
